OBJECTS
In this body of work I use found or everyday objects as surfaces for drawing, painting and embroidery when the idea feels like it needs a physical form rather than a flat one. Sometimes the impact comes from the object itself - text or imagery landing somewhere unexpected can sharpen the message or humour. The object and the text work together to create meaning.
Often the starting point is the object itself. I’ll come across something at a car boot sale or in a shop and feel drawn to it, with the idea arriving afterwards. An old abacus became a silver sculpture with the phrase I Wanna Be a Dad Because Being a Mum Looks Like Too Much Effort came from this impulse: taking something ordinary or decorative and turning it into a small, mischievous monument to lived experience.
